Set of 4 single egg coddlers, 2 in the Lavinia Blackberry pattern and 2 in the Astley pattern all made by Royal Worcester and made in England. A coddled egg is much like a poached egg. The egg is scrambled and placed in the coddler with salt/pepper or any other omelette ingredient, if desired. The metal lid is screwed on and it is placed in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes. The metal ring is used to lift it out of the pan, never use the ring to open the coddler.
